Paris Angels - Perfume (All On You)

It's the Champions League Final tonight between Barcelona and Manchester United. It's the biggest game in club football and with probably the best two teams in Europe coming together it will hopefully be a cracker. So even though my footballing allegience lies in the 'blue' corner of Manchester as a tribute to United's achievement I'll be posting some great music from that city and surrounding areas.

One of my favourite records from the 'Madchester' scene was Perfume by Paris Angels. Released in 1990 on Sheer Joy records it was voted 'Single Of The Week' in NME.

Brilliant single from Glasgow band Belle & Sebastian. Released on Jeepster in 1997 this single still gets played regularly in my household. The title track features Monica_Queen of Thrum on vocals.

Dave Clarke - No One's Driving

I really don't know much about techno music so it's a bit of a surprise to see this single in my collection. Yet another purchase from WH Smiths bargain bin I probably paid the 50p for this single solely because of the Chemical Brothers mix on the b-side. I'm glad I did though as this is a cracking piece of music from the man dubbed 'the Baron of Techno' by the legendary John Peel.

Nowadays, due to chart regulations this release would be classed as an album but back in 1998 most CD singles gave very good value for money. This single which features Thom Yorke on vocals was released on the Mo Wax record label and contained 7 different mixes of the track Rabbit In Your Headlights. The original version can be found on the Psyence Fiction album .

Bought for 50p in the bargain bin of my local WH Smiths this is my favourite Death_in_Vegas single and also one of my favourite singles of any artist. Released in 1996 on Concrete Records the title track features samples from the Woodstock festival and also rapper Roxanne Shante. The track GBH highlights the band's love of reggae and in my opinion is probably even better than Dirt.
